The same people who made the Jessica Lange .gifs and the .gifs from every GaGa video and live appearance ever--are literally freaking out as they countdown the seconds to the AHS: Hotel premiere.
The same thing happened two weeks ago when Scream Queens premiered. It was a competition among lifeless internet denizens to see who could get the most social media validation from their .gifs.
The .gifs usually show up at those havens for people who need lives. Places like pop music forums and fan-sites. It always seems to be the same sort of lifeless fuck (who fits the generic profile of social media whore) spamming the fuck out of these .gifs at various social media sites.
